Senior Accounting Manager (CPA Required)
The Senior Accounting Manager is providing ongoing support and collaboration with management to oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, department initiatives, management of assigned accounting staff.
- Supporting the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger which includes journal entry reviews, account reconciliation reviews, account creations, and an in-depth understanding of all reconciliations performed bank wide. Responsible for the review and approval of prepaid and accruals, management of property contractual commitments, and maintaining the equity investments of the bank
- Participate in the training and development of the accounting staff to meet the departmental and organizational goals. Provide guidance and assistance in the analysis and problem solving of reconciling variances
- Maintain a working knowledge of the various software used by the bank and representing the accounting department in the periodic review and updates
- Leads the planning, preparation and data collection for the internal and external audits. Participates in the preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements in accordance with U.S GAAP
- Point of contact for the data collection and communication with external tax preparer, participate in the review of the annual tax return, federal and state quarterly tax payments, and prepare and record adjusting journal entries. Assist management in the compliance with all tax and accounting laws and ensures focus on compliance with regulatory record keeping and reporting requirements
- Collaborate in the development, management and implementation of assigned accounting projects
- Support oversight of internal controls, accounting processes and data management. Document, review and complete the periodic updates of accounting policies, practices and procedures. Through a working partnership, guide and assist other departments by clearly communicating current accounting policies and procedures as well as composing and disseminating new procedures and policies as necessitated by best practices and changes in regulations
- Participate in the finance and accounting team's initiative to support Bank-wide staff onboarding to platforms owned by the finance group and further learning and development training to embed sound finance and budgeting practices across the Bank. Provide guidance and support to other departments throughout the annual budget process
- Participate in the research and implementation related to recent accounting pronouncements and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of broad finance and accounting experience in banking industry, 3+ years of people management experience overseeing finance and accounting professionals and staff at all levels; including the ability to leverage strengths of the current finance and accounting staff, clarifying and enhancing roles and responsibilities and developing and implementing training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and bank wide goals and performance. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effective communicating key data in a user-friendly and concise manner to individuals with varying levels of finance acumen, including presentations to senior management
- Must have a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting; Master's preferred
- Must hold an active CPA designation
