Business Continuity Manager

The Business Continuity Manager will support planning for and recovery from significant events that could impact the business operations. The manager will be responsible for the continued improvement, development, implementation, and administration of all aspects of the Business Continuity Program and Plan including business continuity plans, exercises, mass-notification system, and coordination of the business continuity response team. Responsible for interfacing with senior management, regulatory auditors, and company stakeholders while also implementing and supporting the services. Provide oversight and establish the framework for enterprise-wide Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery activities, thereby cross-functionally driving consistency and standards. Lead enterprise efforts; creating industry best practices through analysis, sound risk management practices and forward thinking; develop strategies for operational risk management and design and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to assure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations and guidelines. Provide best in class customer service while ensuring accuracy related to managing and maturing the Business Continuity Program.

  • Develop, implement, and administer all aspects of the Bank's business continuity lifecycle on a defined basis, including business impact analysis, business continuity planning, training, and exercises. Develop and administer awareness and training in support of the Business Continuity Program and Plan
  • Coordinate regular cross-functional business continuity and disaster recovery response training exercises including the development of After-Action Reports
  • Cross-functionally evaluate and recommend continual improvement/additional needs to business continuity & disaster recovery policy(s) and plan(s)
  • Prepare a Business Continuity briefing  to the Board of Directors annually and to the Executive Leadership Team quarterly. Briefing includes independent management reporting of incidents, outages, and other disruptions, in addition to performing root cause analysis to improve mitigation and optimize performance
  • Review work, provide constructive feedback, and coach internal stakeholders to develop their business continuity capabilities
  • Support business units to develop business continuity program elements (risk assessments, business impact analysis, business continuity plans, incident response plans) utilizing a governance framework in an annual cycle
  • Align IT disaster recovery strategies to operational requirements (including RTOs and RPOs) to document appropriate mitigation strategies to avoid operational disruption in partnership with Information Technology and key stakeholders
  • Ensure Senior Management and Board of Directors are continuously informed of all aspects of the Bank's Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery activities including an evaluation of its relative risk exposure. Advise the Board of Directors, Senior Management and Bank personnel of emerging risk issues and consult and guide the Bank in the establishment of controls to mitigate risks

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in risk management, business, finance, or related field. Professional experience may satisfy this requirement
  • Seven more years of banking experience in retail, operations, or business continuity and/or disaster recovery planning. Three or more years as a Business Continuity Senior Leader
  • Preferred - Business Continuity certification (e.g Certified Business Continuity or Member, Business Continuity Institute) Experience and skilled in working with cross-functional  teams, including IT, leaders, and vendors

Skills:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and MS Word; basic keyboarding and calculator skills; must be able to do simple math and carry out written instructions
  • Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential functions of the job
  • Lifting in an office setting may be required up to 30 lbs.
