About Us

The No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum tells the story of how Terrell TX, a tiny farming community in 1941, contributed to the saving of democracy during World War II by teaching young British cadets how to fly. England was alone in facing the Nazi war machine and was desperate for pilots to defend themselves. Thanks to the Lend Lease Act, more than 2000 young men, mostly teenagers, from England, Ireland and Scotland plus a handful of Americans were adopted by local families while they spent six months soaring over the wide Texas skies in open cockpit, flight trainers. See aircraft, equipment, uniforms, maps, photographs, displays and more at this unique museum at the Terrell Municipal Airport. Admission is free. Open Wednesday – Saturday 10-4.
