Location: The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Terrell, Tx
Hours: 20 hours per week; M-Thurs. (or, M-F)
Compensation: $20 per hour

Position Summary
The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, a budding parish of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, seeks a reliable and organized Administrative Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the church office. This part-time position plays a vital role in the communication, coordination, and hospitality ministries of the parish. The ideal candidate is professional, personable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a faith-based environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact in the church office (phone, email, in-person)
  • Prepare and distribute weekly service bulletins and church communications
  • Maintain parish calendar, schedule meetings and building use, and assist with event coordination
  • Manage and update parish records, including baptisms, weddings, funerals, and membership information
  • Provide administrative support to the rector, vestry, and ministry leaders
  • Monitor office supplies and coordinate maintenance of office equipment
  • Direct financial processes such as accounts payable, accounts received, and payroll
  • Ensure sensitive information is handled confidentially and securely

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and/or Google

Workspace
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Comfortable learning or using church management and accounting software (Realm and Paychex)
  • Respect for confidentiality and professionalism in a church setting
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Familiarity with liturgical worship (Episcopal or mainline Protestant) is a plus

Working Conditions
  • On-site work required at the church office during scheduled hours
  • Occasional lifting or carrying of office or bulletin materials (up to 20–25 lbs)
  • Flexible scheduling may be available with mutual agreement
