Description
The 80th anniversary of V-E Day, the end of World War II in Europe, will be celebrated on May 10 and you’re invited! The free event will be from 10 - 4 pm at the No. 1 British Flying Training School Museum, 119 Silent Wings Blvd. in Terrell TX.
“We’ll start the day with our usual Second Saturday Veterans (continental) breakfast at 9 am to honor those who have served our country and the public is invited to join us at 10 am” explained Executive Director Patrick Hotard. “We’ll have a cake at noon, of course (while supplies last) with lots of activities that will appeal to all ages.”
On the tarmac, visitors can see static displays of Ole 42, the Stearman biplane recently relocated to the museum and a T-6 Texan monoplane, both types of aircraft flown by the RAF cadets while learning to fly in Terrell. In addition to museum tours and a brief explanation of the multiple surrender ceremonies there will be a separate weapons display, classic cars (available from 10-2), and demonstrations of the museum’s flight simulator. The aircraft and classic car displays are weather dependent.
The public is invited to the day’s festivities. For information call 972-551-1122 or visit https://www.bftsmuseum.org
