The Residential Trainer Dayhab provides direct care services to persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a structured small group home setting. Responsibilities include performing structured therapeutic activities, provision of training and assistance with all activities of daily living, including self-administration of medications, personal hygiene, housekeeping, food preparation and feeding, mobility and community access, transportation, recreation and leisure skills, and maintaining basic health.This training occurs both in the home and in day program settings. Implements behavior management programs, and provides emergency behavior or health-related interventions, as necessary. Position also provides transportation services on a daily basis using a multi-passenger van, and serves as member of interdisciplinary team. The Residential Trainer Dayhab must be knowledgeable of techniques used in teaching adaptive living skills, and planning and monitoring the social activities of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Must possess the ability to assess residents' functional levels and to facilitate productive interaction between residents and staff. Must be able to observe and delineate salient aspects of situational behaviors. Must have the ability to document individuals' progress and significant events in a clear and concise manner. And be able to exercise reasonable judgment to ensure the health and safety of residents at either the group home setting or day program setting.
Physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, frequent sitting, standing and walking, may be required for long periods of time and may involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines, and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and or moving up to 50 pounds as well as using equipment to assist with lifting.
The Residential Trainer Dayhab will work group home Mon thru Friday regardless of holidays and/or inclement weather. The Residential Trainer will provide transportation to and from day program for residents. Documentation will be done at both settings.
Location: Waxahachie/Ennis, Texas
Status: Full-Time; 40 Hours per Week, 15-40 hours may be in group home setting each week Mon-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm
FLSA Assignment: Non-Exempt
Salary: $12.00 per Hour

High School Diploma or GED. Must have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record, as well as personal automobile liability insurance as required by the state of Texas.
Six (6) months of work experience. One year of work experience in a rehabilitation setting serving persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Working computer skills, including Microsoft Word.
